The Metro New York Health Care for All Campaign is a citywide multi-constituency health care justice coalition. We were founded during the health care reform debate of the early 1990’s, and have continued to bring together community groups, labor unions, professional associations, and faith communities to fight for universal health care, and work on other health care justice issues central to that goal.
PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS FOR 2008

Health Care for All New York
|
We help lead a statewide campaign to promote universal health care reform in New York, and link that effort to national campaigns working toward the same goal for the United States.

Coalition Leadership
|
We co-chair the Universal Health Care Action Network, a national organization of state and local health care justice coalitions. We also serve on the leadership bodies of New Yorkers for Accessible Health Coverage (a statewide network of chronic illness and disability groups), and the NY Metro chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program (an organization of health care professionals.) We participate in Medicaid Matters New York (a statewide network of low-income advocates), and the Save Our Safety Net Campaign (a coalition of various groups who focus on health system issues.)

“Health Action”
|
We produce segments for and co-host the station’s weekly “Health Action” interview program. (Tune in at 99.5 FM or listen to “Health Action” live Mondays at 1 p.m. Listen to archived “Health Action” programs.)

“Health Care on the Air”
|
We produce a monthly cable TV program shown on public access cable channels in New York City – help us get on cable in your borough or community!

Monthly Lectures
|
We co-sponsor a guest expert speaker series with Physicians for a National Health Program, local chapters of medical student groups, and the Public Health Association of New York City.

Labor Health Care Solidarity
|
We support trade unions on health care issues relevant to their organizing campaigns, contract negotiations, policy work, and workplace justice matters for health care workers – all in the context of affirming & promoting “health care for all”.

|
Our way to keep YOU up-to-date on key issues and action campaigns – subscribe to NY Health Care Activist E-Mail List. In particular, we publish a biweekly calendar of events, and send out important action alerts and issue backgrounders.

New York Network for Action on Medicare and Social Security
|
We co-chair a New York area coalition of senior citizen and disability rights groups who together educate the public and poilcymakers on issues related to our nation’s two premier social insurance programs, and advocate for reforms to protect, improve, and expand them. The coalition also focuses on policy issues related to prescription drug coverage and pharmaceutical industry practices.

Rekindling Reform
|
We help lead a joint project with health professional organizations and academic programs to explore models of health reform as logical and politically-possible responses to our nation’s health care crisis.

Speakers Bureau
|
We’ll send someone out to your union, organization, or congregation to help you understand what’s up in health care and how you can help fight for health justice.
